Hola! Hello! My name is Eileen Figueroa. I am 23 years old, born and raised in the Bronx, New York. One of my favorite sandwiches I'd buy from the delis in the Bronx is called a Chopped Cheese. This is one of the things I miss since I moved west to Rochester, New York for college. I am studying electrical engineering technology and applied modern language and culture at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
I always wanted to travel to a Spanish-speaking country to apply my Spanish skills. Afterall, Spanish is my native language--I learned from my Peruvian parents. Since I knew I needed to also fulfill my study abroad requirement as part of my modern language and culture studies in Spanish, I applied and was selected for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, which led me to move to Madrid, Spain, where I take Spanish and cultural classes. I am really excited to share my journey here in Madrid with you all and look forward to getting to also hear from you!
