A Noodle Adventure in Taiwan

Introduction:

There are so many tasty dishes throughout Taiwan! There is such a large variety of flavors and ingredients used to make foods, but in Taiwan, you will see a lot of dishes have rice or noodles. Some of my favorite dishes have been beef noodles, scallion pancakes, dumplings, and sushi. Although I have tried many delicious dishes, one of my favorite dishes in Taiwan has been beef noodles. In another journal, though, I want to tell you guys all about the night markets that they have in Taiwan!

What food did I try?:

During my nearly 3 months in Taiwan, I have tried many different, delicious foods, but one of my favorites has been the famous beef noodle soup (牛肉麵, niú ròu miàn). It’s a warm, flavorful bowl filled with beef, noodles, and a rich, savory broth. Many locals say beef noodles are Taiwan’s “national dish!”

I ordered my first bowl of beef noodles in a small shop near the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) station, where the air was full of soup and spices. The broth was dark and comforting, and the beef was so soft it melted in my mouth. I also tried Sichuan peppers for the first time, which made my tongue tingle!

Eating beef noodles in Taiwan has been so fun to see which types I enjoy the most. My favorite will probably be the first time I tried it in Taiwan.
