It became very popular in Japan in the 1930s, particularly in Usa and Nakatsu.
Lately, I have been listening to a lot of K-pop music. I listen to BTS, Blackpink, and K-pop Demon Hunters music. My students started learning the theme song from “Suzume” for a body percussion assignment, and so I listened to the Chinese version of it, which was sung by Jay Chou. He is a famous Taiwanese musician, songwriter, actor, and director. I enjoy listening to his covers of songs that he translates into Chinese. This past week, my friend introduced me to a new band called "Twenty Four Seven with Us (TWS)." They are a new K-pop group that debuted in 2024. One of their most famous songs that I enjoyed listening to was "OVERDRIVE."
I enjoyed doing aerial yoga with my friends. It is a great challenge, and reminds me to try to do my best. This past week, I really struggled with the instructions we were given, but I did my best, and I saw progress through the class!
I also play in a band at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. I met this group through a friend in my program, and we go every Monday evening. I get to play my saxophone with others, and I learn a little Chinese from the other members in the band.
This week, I did not do a lot of reading; however, a couple of weeks ago, I volunteered at the library in Taipei! We read short English stories with the students. That week, we read Little Blue Truck and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom with the children. They loved reading along, making fun animal noises, and pretending to climb up a coconut tree!
