Goodbyes (for now) from Japan!

I also hope that I have helped you get excited about exploring the world, learning about new people and places, and trying new things. Maybe you can even study abroad someday, and experience living in a different country for yourselves! I'm very grateful to the Fulbright program for giving me the opportunity to do this, and to help me connect with you and share my life in Japan with you!

There are a few different ways to say 'goodbye' in Japanese. One is the famous 'sayonara' (sah-yoh-nah-rah) - which usually means you won't see another person for a very long time. I always think it's just a bit too formal. My preferred way to say 'goodbye' is 'ja, mata ne' (jah, mahtah, nay), which means 'until the next time we meet'. So I will say this to you now, because I hope we'll all be able to meet again one day (maybe even in Tokyo)! Keep doing your best in school, have fun with your friends and teachers, and stay curious about the world!
