It's February now, which means it's been around five months since I arrived in Tokyo. While my research has kept me busy, I've been able to do a lot of fun things as well. I have particularly liked exploring the big city and seeing so many new things! Of course, I'm still excited to keep exploring, especially as the weather gets warmer and spring arrives, along with Japan's famous cherry blossoms.
Living abroad can mean facing some challenges too. I miss my friends and family from home, but with video calls, we are able to keep in touch (and I can even say hello to my cat, who is staying with my parents for now). Walking everywhere or taking trains instead of using a car was also a challenge, but I think I have gotten stronger as a result. I like to think that even when times get tough, you can find a silver lining to every storm cloud.
I have really enjoyed getting to meet all of you and answer all of your questions about Japan! I know some of you have visited Japan before, but for those who haven't, I hope you have a chance to go someday. It's a wonderful and beautiful place, and those are just a few of the reasons why I love it so much and focus my studies on Japan! There's always something new to discover here.
