This week I saw the volcano, Santiaguito, up close! This is one of the most active volcanoes in Guatemala; so, it's illegal to climb it. However, you can hike halfway up the volcano, Santa Maria, which is right next door! We felt it rumble, saw it burble and spit out steam. Freaky!
This week, there was not a single earthquake! This is strange for us, as we usually experience a little earthquake, a temblor, at least once a week. Guatemala is a very geologically active country, meaning we have on averge 290 earthquakes per year, or 24 per month. That's almost every day!
