The weather this week has been rainy off and on. When we get a day of sunshine, everyone sits outside to appreciate it before another cloudy day!
Because Bologna is a large, urban city, there is not much wildlife. At the park near my apartment, I see birds like pigeons, as well as squirrels, in the trees. Something I have noticied since living here is that Italians love their pets. Most people have dogs and cats, especially older Italians. You see people out walking their dogs in the city center and playing in dog parks. The dogs go with their owners everywhere, even in places we cannot bring dogs in America. There are dogs in the grocery stores, dogs in the outdoor markets, dogs in restaurants (even fancy ones), and of course dogs at outdoor cafes! Many people live in apartments in the city so they often have smaller dogs that are well-adapted to city life. Cats are also common pets; residents in my apartment building take care of a cat that lives in our garden.
