Spain has a more laid-back culture when it comes to socializing with food and drink, so people take their time enjoying drinks and food with conversation. I do not know much about food preparation, but one distinct dish I know about is paella, the Spanish rice dish I have tried. It is prepared in a big pan specifically for paella called a paellera. It is also usually served directly from the paellera. When making paella, the rice at the bottom crisps up to form something called socarrat, or the caramelized and crisp rice.
As I mentioned before, Barcelona has a Mediterranean climate, meaning that the cuisine here uses Mediterranean ingredients such as olives, tomato and seafood. Food is also prepared with local produce and seafood since Barcelona is a coastal city. There are local food markets in the area where locals buy fresh produce, meats, dairy and seafood.
