Hello, everyone!
I’m originally from Houston, Texas, though I have lived in Austin for the past two and a half years to attend the University of Texas. Austin is known for being a very exciting city, with lots of outdoor activities. This is very different from Houston, where the only outdoor activities offered are a couple of parks throughout the city.
I spent my freshman year of college exploring the many hiking trails and lakes in Austin every weekend, which led me to become interested in protecting the environment. During my second semester, I joined an interest group which focused on developing and implementing sustainable practices throughout campus. "Sustainable" means that we use resources at a rate with which they can be replaced to ensure that we do not harm the environment.
Because of these experiences, I decided to major in Supply Chain Management. A supply chain is basically the series of steps in the process of producing a final good or service that a business sells. This includes everything from choosing which raw materials to use to how those products will be delivered to stores to be sold. I hope to use my major to develop sustainable supply chain systems within corporations to help reduce pollution and conserve limited natural resources.
