The "Te Rā Ringa Raupā: Reviving the art of the woven sail" event was held at the Maritime Museum, which I had only passed through for crew training before. It was really amazing to see the exhibit, which had information about the process of weaving sails and about Te Rā Ringa Raupā, the group who had rediscovered the art of weaving sails. It also had a sail they had woven, as well as several meters of cordage that they had created from natural fibers!
We just had Daylight Savings Time here, so now Hawaiʻi is 22 hours behind New Zealand! That means that most of the time, I am a day ahead, but 2 hours behind. I'm writing now at 1:32 pm on Sunday, so in Hawaiʻi, it is 3:32 on Saturday. It's hard to keep track of all the different time zones when I'm talking to my friends and family on the East Coast, in Colorado, in Hawaiʻi, and in Japan!
