It's a Kid's Life

Milo is an energy drink that tastes a little like hot chocolate. It's highly advertised in Ghana and is a common breakfast food.

What is your house like?:

“I live in a big house with Mommy, Daddy and my sister Nala Co. The walls are a brown color, and we have a driveway where the cars go. My room is the best room because that is where all of my things are, like my toys and my dolls. Nala Co stays in my room, too, which is not fun sometimes because she cries.”

What chores do you have at home?:

“After I eat I always help wash the dishes and I even help cook.  A lady needs to know what chores to do around the house. Sometimes, at the end of the day, Mommy will let me sweep the house, too. Nala Co is younger than me, but she also helps clean the house.”

What jobs do your parents have?:

“Mommy is an accountant, just like Uncle Oscar. She works hard, so she is very serious and tired at night. Daddy is a civil servant. Daddy is rich; he has a lot of money.”

Oscar is one of my host brothers.

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

“School starts at eight o’ clock every day. I leave the house at 7:30 to get there on time. After school I leave at three o’ clock, but I like to play with my friends sometimes, so I don’t want to leave.”

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

Mommy usually takes us to school, and sometimes Daddy does.  We are not old enough to take the taxi by ourselves yet!
