안녕하세요 Annyeonghaseyo! Hello! My name is Emily Lucente. I am 22 years old and was born in Honolulu, Hawaii but mostly grew up in Clackamas, Oregon. I spent much of my childhood traveling- I visited all 50 states in the U.S and 38 countries. Traveling taught me the importance of accepting others and becoming open-minded to learning new things!
I went to college at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. While there, I majored in Theatre Acting and minored in International Studies and Conflict Management. I recently graduated in April 2022 and went on to get my masters from Pepperdine’s Law School in Dispute Resolution, where I will graduate in December 2022. At Pepperdine, I traveled to many different countries, studied abroad, and learned about other cultures, religions, and traditions. While at Pepperdine, I grew my love for traveling and connecting with people from all over the world.
Pepperdine broadened my horizons and introduced me to the opportunity to connect with others overseas through the Fulbright U.S Student Program. I was fortunate to receive the English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Award to teach English in South Korea! I am teaching South Korean and North Korean defector students to bring them together through the shared goal of learning English.
I am excited to share my adventures with you all while in South Korea and cannot wait to hear about your journeys through the school year!
