I come from a little place called Redding, California. Ever heard of it? You don't know me yet, but I actually know a lot about your school—in high school, I was a teaching assistant in RSA's kindergarten mandarin immersion class! Since you already know all the usual stuff about Redding, here are a few of my favorite things from NorCal: I love hitting the trails in Lassen National Park, grabbing a burger at Yak's on the 5, going to the Shasta Public Library, buying a fresh watermelon at the Saturday morning Farmer's Market, swimmin in Lake Siskiyou, and crossing my fingers for snow every winter.
I left Redding for 2 years to study English and education at UC Davis, where I made some great friends, got really into medieval English literature, and learned to scuba dive! There's nowhere I'd rather dive than the freezing waters of Monterey Bay, but I will admit Taiwan's beautiful, warm ocean is also pretty nice.
In September 2024, I applied for a Fulbright Scholarship to teach English in Taiwan. 11 months later, I landed in the Taiwan airport and prepared for the most exciting year of my life. Even now, it's hard to believe that I get to live on this beautiful island and teach all the wonderful students at Taiping Elementary School. RSA students, I am so excited that you are joining me as I teach, travel, and learn here in Taiwan. Let's have a great adventure together!
