Hi! My name is Emma. Aangenaam! (This means "It's nice to meet you" in Dutch.)
I am from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, which is just outside of Milwaukee. Back home I love to bike, take long walks by Lake Michigan, explore new parks, read, and hang out with friends. I went to Marquette University in Milwaukee for college, which is not far from where I grew up. After graduating with a degree in French, environmental studies, and peace studies, I decided to move across the world to teach English in France. I spent an incredible year in the small town of Guingamp, France. This experience reinforced the fact that I wanted to travel, and live and experience more places in the world. I was inspired to apply for an English Teaching Assistant grant from The Fulbright Program in Belgium. I was lucky enough to be accepted and I am now embarking on another adventure abroad!
This year I am living in the picturesque city of Bruges, Belgium. I am working at a local university, taking Dutch lessons (did you know that Dutch is one of Belgium's three national languages?) and exploring the Flemish coast of the North Sea in my spare time.
I am so excited to share my adventures with you! Let's see what Belgium has to offer this year!
