Maltese food is made to be filling and full of flavor, and that is exactly what it provides. You can almost taste all of the history in each bite!
With love of course! The focus on food here is not for it to be fast; instead, much of its taste comes from the preparation process. Much of the food is fried in local olive oil, making it crispy and flaky. Many foods include at least some form of dough, so there is a lot of rolling and stretching involved. Because of Malta's location and closeness to North Africa, its food often includes numerous spices, which create delicious aromas, or smells, during cooking.
Since Malta is such a small island, the people here have had to take full advantage of what the environment can offer. For example, fish is so popular because Malta's many natural ports and harbors make it easy for the Maltese to fish in the Mediterranean Sea. What Malta lacks in physical land mass, it makes up for with its coastlines and surrounding sea area.
