Hello all,
First, I want to thank you all for following my journey. Sharing my experience with you all has made me feel more grateful. I loved meeting you all in our Zoom calls and hearing your wonderful questions. You all are so curious and smart, and I know you will accomplish great things in your life!
I thought a good farewell journal entry could be some lessons that I've learned so far. Before I came to Korea, I knew that I wanted to make connections with my community, fully immerse myself in Korean culture and become more independent. I feel like I've already accomplished those goals, and I can't wait to continue them. Here's what I've learned while living here with those goals in mind:
1. Push Yourself to Try New Things
This is always difficult in any situation. I've always been on the quieter side, and sometimes get nervous in new environments. I made a promise to myself to be more outgoing and reach out first to new people. I took the initiative to ask my now best friends to hang out for the first time, and I'm so glad I did. I also took the initiative to join a new CrossFit gym and being the only foreigner, I now have Korean friends in my city.
