Annyeonghaseyo! Hello! My name is Emma Morris. I am 23 years old and from Virginia Beach, Virginia. I loved growing up at the beach, where I enjoyed going with my friends and going out on boat rides with my family and my dog, Folly. I also was a competitive dancer and took weekly ballet, modern, and jazz dance classes.
I attended the University of Virginia, about three hours from my hometown, where I found my love for teaching. I love to learn about different cultures and help others, too, so I decided to study Global Public Health. After my first year, I traveled abroad to Cape Town, South Africa for six weeks and took courses on public health research. This experience helped me to discover my love of travel, people, and the world! I also discovered the importance of language not only for communicating with others but also for accessing healthcare services. Soon after, I connected my passion for overcoming language barriers with my love for teaching and started tutoring the English language to students in South Korea- many of whom are older than I am! I discovered my love for South Korean culture through their films and by talking to my students. I am elated to share my experiences in South Korea this upcoming year as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA), and I can't wait to learn more about you all, too!
