Hello! My name is Erin. I grew up in a small town in southeast Kansas, right in the middle of the U.S. Growing up, I always loved learning about people and their customs and traditions. I attended school at the University of Kansas where I studied environmental science, or how people interact with nature and their environment. I also studied German. After finishing school, I worked at an organization that taught elementary and middle school students about the local environment. Through this job, I learned a lot about schools and education in the U.S. and became curious about what schools were like in other countries.
I have studied German since I was 16, so in addition to learning about how schools in other countries work, I also wanted to continue learning about Germany and working on my own foreign language skills. This past school year, I have been living in a small town in northwest Germany, working with students who are between 11 and 18 years old in their English classes. I work with the teachers at the school to teach students how to read, write, listen, and speak English. While I help my students practice their English language skills and tell them about life in America, they teach me about life as a student in Germany!
