A Final Goodbye!

As wonderful as virtual learning can be, I really hope that you all can find means to travel. You don’t have to travel outside of the country but just go to another town nearby or to another state. You'll be surprised as to how different the lives of others can be!

And when you do meet new people from other areas, maybe you can share with them a bit about El Salvador. Whether it’s from the delicious pupusas, the local music (new or traditional), or the extremely warm and friendly Salvadorans I’ve met in my past ten months here, I now have another piece of the world to share with you, my friends and others important to me.

I challenge you to keep learning about El Salvador, and perhaps to search out Salvadoran places and things near where you live.

I have learned that migration, or moving to a new place for a long period of time, is quite common to Salvadoran culture. Almost everyone I know has family living outside of El Salvador, usually in the United States. This means that you can usually find something Salvadoran in so many parts of the U.S. Try finding a pupusería or a place that makes tamales, or perhaps look up some Salvadoran bands on Youtube or Spotify (Camelo, Proyecto Pulpo, Sinestesia, Clément and Carrot are a few!) and give them a listen in your free time.

I’ve included photos of some of the most beautiful parts of El Salvador that I have found so far. Enjoy them! If you have any more questions about El Salvador or want to stay in touch, ask your Global Learning Leader. I will be staying in El Salvador and living life as a musician and educator for a little while longer, so I have more experiences to come!

Much peace,

Jeffrey
