I cannot believe it has already been almost five months in Taiwan. If you asked me a year ago if I would teach outside of the United States, let alone Minnesota, I would have told you, “No! I want to stay in Minnesota!” However, after getting the opportunity to travel across the globe with Fulbright to teach in a new country, I can confidently say it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have missed my family and friends while in Taiwan, but I know they are my biggest supporters on this journey I am taking.

I have made lasting memories starting from day one in Taiwan. I remember first getting to Taiwan at 4 am. It was one of the busiest days I have had, full of meetings and orientations to ensure everyone was ready to begin living in a new country. That same day, I realized why everyone brings an umbrella everywhere, even when the sun is out. My roommates and I got caught in the rain on the very first day! It is small moments like these that have left such an impact on me.

In addition to the memories that I am creating in Taiwan, I have used the opportunity here to work on my Chinese studies and interact with the locals to learn about their traditions and community.
