Food in Korea!

Introduction:

My friends and I are always ready to try new things, and in Korea that's a pretty easy thing to do. The culture in this country is such that people tend to eat out, since grocery shopping can often be expensive. However, some restaurants will not even let you eat if you do not have a group because they expect you to come with all of your friends.

What food did I try?:

While in Korea, I have tried so many new foods. The diet in Korea is based around meat and seafood, so that's been most of my meals. For instance, I have tried Korean sausage, raw octopus, squid and even chicken heart. I think the craziest thing I tried would have to be the live octopus.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

The octupus was a little more expensive (it cost 13,000 won or approximately 10 USD) compared to the other food options in an otherwise very cheap market. I felt an absolute adrenaline rush when I realized we were actually going to eat the squirming tentacles. You have to be sure to chomp fast because of the suction cups!

How is the food prepared?:

We tried the live octopus in Gwangjang Market, which is an open-air market with tons of different food stalls. As far as preparation is concerned, the chef literally grabs the live octopus and just chops it up!
