Traveler Bio

Hey there! I'm Francesca, and I'm from Pittsburgh, Pennslyvania. Growing up, I spent much of my time with my cousins and friends, whether we were watching movies, eating at Pittsburgh's fantastic restaurants or just relaxing. In school, my favorite subjects were English, German and choir. I have always loved words and languages, and over time, I became fascinated with world cultures, too.

When it was time to start college at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, I really wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I bet someone out there can relate to that feeling, too! But, I did know that I wanted to continue studying German, and I used that as my first major and stepping stone. Later, I found linguistics (the study of language) and declared that as my second major. Finally, I found the TEFL (Teach English as a Foreign Language) Certificate, and that's how I found out that I like teaching!

It's a long story, but I'm happy where it has led me. I am able to combine my passion for languages and my new love for teaching through a U.S. Fulbright Grant. This year, I will be in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany working as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in a German school. I'm living in the state's capital, called Kiel, and I am working 20 minutes outside the city. I'm excited to share with you all about my adventures and discoveries!
