I have had so much fun so far in these first few weeks, and I've already done so much exploring. While I have been able to try many new things different from back home, there are many more dishes that I wish to try (and definitely will) as I spend more of my time here.
Recently, I finally arrived to Australia and have been able to try many new things as a result. To name a few, I had a cob loaf, rissoles, sour patch kids, Korean fried chicken and so much more!
While shopping at grocery stores I’ve also seen a bunch of sparkling water and sodas in flavors I had never seen before, like raspberry, lemon, pineapple lime and fruit cup. I also came across another dish that I baked and tried myself: rissoles. Rissoles are meat patties made of minced meat (typically beef) and rolled in breadcrumbs mixed with herbs, egg and vegetables like garlic, onions or carrots. Oftentimes they are meant to be baked, grilled or fried and taste just like a hamburger. A more familiar treat that I tried while adjusting to my new environment was sour patch kids, and I found that the Australian version of this candy is very different from its American counterpart.
