Hola amigos! My name is Gabriel Perez and I'll be joining you from Costa Rica this semester! I'm a graduating senior from the University of California-Berkeley, studying geography with an emphasis on integrated biology. A few years ago I realized I really wanted to be part of a scientific team. I was able to participate in a research program called STEMSEAS aboard a naval vessel traveling up the California/Oregon coastline, and this experience fueled my dream to conduct more field research.
Fast-forward to last spring, when I had my second chance to get into the field, this time to explore California ecosystems. It was intense camping for seven weeks, but it gave me the field science skills I needed to be prepared for a 12-week research trip to Costa Rica. I'm so excited to be living my dream, and I'm looking forward to sharing this experience with you! Let's go!
