There are lots of differences between America and Japan. For example, in the U.S., we measure in inches and feet. Here, they measure in meters. In the U.S., we drive on the right side of the road. Here, they drive on the left. In the U.S., we usually eat with a spoon and fork. Here, most people use chopsticks. At first glance, there are a lot of differences between the two countries.

The differences I described are differences in behavior, or how we do certain things. There are also differences in the way we think. In the U.S., individuality is important. In Japan, conforming to society is what is expected. In Japan, people focus on the needs of the majority rather than the individual. Neither way of thinking is bad. Both ways of thinking have good and bad aspects. For example, it is important to pursue your own interests and do things the way only you can do. However, if you always only think of yourself, you can become selfish and arrogant. On the other hand, it is also good to think of society as a whole and how everyone can benefit. At the same time, if you always did everything the way that everyone else does it, then nothing new and nothing better would come about.

Each person is unique. From how we look and speak to the ways we act and think, we are all different and special.
