Hello! My name is Garrett Snedeker, and I’m a graduate student in the big city of London, England! London is much bigger than my hometown of Ellensburg, which is a small town in Washington State. I’m a pianist, exploring how music shapes who we are as people. Do you ever wonder why music makes us feel certain ways? Why it can make us feel warm and at home, or like we're in a different world? That's what my research is all about!
As part of a Fulbright Scholarship at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, I’m learning how to communicate my feelings and my identity through music. I'm doing this by listening deeply as I practice piano, learning from my wonderful music teachers, meeting and making friends who inspire me, and taking every opportunity to explore London. I’ve jumped into new things I’ve never done before, like improvising and performing with dancers. In all I’m doing, I’m figuring out how music plays an important role in my life, in everyone's life, and in our society.
I can’t wait to share this musical journey through London with you!
