He often walks with students on their walks through the trees and is always looking for someone to pet him. Wherever you go in Tucumán, you can find a furry friend!
This past weekend I traveled to the southern part of Tucumán to a place called Alberdi. A very small, quiet town, Alberdi is a natural jungle that is home to one the most unique plant nurseries - a place just for plants to grow! Filled with greenery and pure air, this small nursery is home to thousands of species of plants, from roses to succulents.
My favorite plants in nature are succulents and cactus. Did you know that cacti can live in the jungle? Believe it or not, succulents and cactus can grow in weird patterns like spirals. How cool, right? Each cactus only produces flowers once a year and they are usually very bright purple, yellow or orange.
In other nature news, I saw the ocean this week! I traveled to Buenos Aires on the very eastern side of Argentina. Here, there are ocean coastlines, tango dance lessons in the plazas, and skyscrapers reaching for the clouds. The mar, or ocean, that I am looking at is the South Atlantic Ocean. In the next few days, I will be taking a boat across the ocean to Uruguay, another Spanish-speaking country. There, I will get to see historic buildings and enjoy their beautiful beaches.
