Traveler Bio

Hi! My name is Genevieve, and I'm from Yonkers, NY. I grew up in a Haitian American household, speaking English and Haitian Creole. My parents spoke even more languages — English, Haitian Creole, French, and Spanish. When I was growing up, I also studied several languages in school, including French, Spanish, and American Sign Language (ASL). Learning different languages has helped me become a better student, traveler, and teacher.

I love working with students of all ages, from high school seniors to college students and even adult learners. I became a Career Coach because I am passionate about helping people follow their dream careers.

During my graduate studies, I had the most fun teaching and supporting people who were learning English as a second language. I applied for, and was honored to receive, a Fulbright Grant to teach in Zambia! After graduating with my master’s degree from Columbia University in Higher and Postsecondary Education, I will be heading to Lusaka, Zambia to teach at a college. I’ve worked in schools, museums, and colleges across the United States, and I’m excited to take this next step by teaching students in another country. I enjoy traveling, walking, dancing, cooking, and trying new restaurants. I can’t wait to experience all of these things in my new home!
