Hi, I am Giovanni, a 24-year-old from Massachusetts in the Northeastern United States. Growing up in Massachusetts, I loved hiking, biking, skiing, soccer, tennis and pretty much all outdoor activities. I also really enjoyed reading. For college, I left Massachusetts and headed to New York State, where I studied biology and political science at Colgate University.
After Colgate, I conducted scientific research on bacteria (small organisms that can make humans sick) at the National Institute of Health, where I lived right outside of Washington, DC, for a year.
Eager to continue scientific research, I applied for a US Fulbright Research Grant to study how parts of the body can grow and heal. Currently, I am living in Palermo, Italy, working in a laboratory that is working on creating a biodegradable stent (a small tube that helps the body repair itself and safely breaks down after it has finished its job). I look forward to sharing my adventures in Italy with you, and can't wait to hear about your school year experiences!
