Hi! My name is Giovanni Lara, but you can call me Gio. I am from Alameda, a small, man-made island in the San Francisco Bay Area. The city is just a bridge (or portal) away from Oakland, CA. For the past year and a half, I have spent my time at UC Davis working towards a degree in pharmaceutical chemistry. I am interested in becoming a pharmacist so that I may work with patients and help improves their health and lives. However, I am also interested in working in drug development so that I may contribute to the global fight against disease.
This spring, I will be traveling to Taiwan and taking chemistry-related coursework while working in a research lab at one of Taiwan’s National Research Institutes. I am really excited to be taking my classes in a new location and have the opportunity to explore the wondrous city of Taipei. Join me!
