In rural areas especially, there may be fewer educational opportunities and limited exposure to English in daily life. Many families cannot afford private courses or tutoring, and public programs are not always available or well-known. As a result, people do not get enough practice, and their confidence in speaking English stays low. This creates challenges for those who want to study, work, or travel internationally.
Yes, this need is starting to be met in small but meaningful ways. In Ordu, there are free speaking clubs held at local cafes where volunteers, including myself, help people practice English in a relaxed and friendly environment. Some universities have student-led English clubs that create fun opportunities for conversation and cultural exchange. A few high schools also organize informal clubs or events to support English learning outside the classroom. By engaging with the community through these activities, more people are gaining the confidence to use English in real life, even if formal resources are limited.
