Traveler Bio

Dumela (hello)! My name is Halle Preneta! I'm 22 years old and my hometown is Cleveland, Ohio. My absolute favorite things to do when I am at home are hanging out with my pets (one dog named Molly and two cats named Tucker and Hopper), see musicals at Playhouse Square, have a nice picnic in the summer at Public Square, and read books at the Cleveland Public Library (where you can usually find me in their children's room)! I went to Kenyon College for higher-level education, where I studied English, primarily disability poetry by disabled poets (such as Molly McCully Brown, Jason Purcell, Travis Chi Wing Lau, and many others).

In my graduate career at Simmons University in Boston, MA, I take what I learned about disability studies in undergrad and apply it to my studies of children's literature and library science, learning how to make public spaces more accessible and what it means to have disability representation in children's literature.

Through my English Teaching Assistant Fulbright Grant to Botswana, while teaching students English, I will also be able to work with the flourishing library science scene that exists in Botswana, doing what I do best, helping others grow their knowledge and flourish to their fullest potential! I hope you enjoy following me along in my journey!
