During my journey to Ireland, I discovered a special kind of dancing called Irish dancing. The music was fast and joyful, and the dancers’ feet tapped skillfully on wooden boards. It was clear how much the Irish people love their tradition of music and dance!
I learned about Irish dancing, a traditional form of dance that has been part of Ireland’s culture for hundreds of years. The dancers keep their upper bodies very still while their feet move quickly in time with the music. The dancers often wear colorful costumes and special shoes that make tapping sounds on the floor. Irish dancing can be performed in groups or solo, and it’s often accompanied by lively fiddle or drum music. This art-form is both beautiful and exciting to watch!
During my first week at school, I watched a live performance of traditional Irish music and dance, and even got to take part, myself! It felt like a mix between tap dancing and a fast jig. Everyone was smiling and clapping along as the music started slowly and grew quicker and quicker. Irish music has a long history, and I also visited an Irish pub where I listened to traditional instruments being played. We all had to be really quiet to hear the beautiful melodies.
