TTFN-Ta Ta For Now

Journal Entry:

This has been such a crazy and fun ride! I've had so much fun sharing my adventures with all of you. I especially enjoyed meeting you and hearing your questions! I know from personal experience that it can be very intimidating to travel to a place you've never been all on your own, but I hope this has inspired you to try something new, whether that is to learn a language, explore the greater community around you or see your world from a new perspective. I have found my decision to get myself all the way over here in South Korea was well worth the effort.

I just got back from spending 24 hours at a Buddhist temple. I wanted to enjoy some time resting and being reflective; however, I ended up doing the complete opposite! My friends followed a really awesome nun around on her daily routine: this involved them spending most of the day outside in 87 degree weather, going on a three-mile meditative hike in the mountains, bowing 108 times each representing one of our human emotions, and spending two hours kneeling in meditation. And I did all of this despite having a mild head cold through all of it! It wasn't at all what I was expecting, and, was, therefore, indicative of my travels over this last year!

I thought I would come to Korea, eat some food, hang out at karaoke booths and practice my language skills. In the event, I could never have dreamed that I would change so much as a person after living in this country.
