Traveler Bio

Hallo! (Hello!) It's very nice to meet you!

My name is Ellie Kreider, and I am a scientist who studies plants. I am originally from Pennsylvania, but this year I'm living in the capital of Germany, Berlin, and conducting research on how plants reconize and respond to cold temperatures.

When I was in sixth grade, I decided that I wanted to study plants--and I've never looked back! Over the years, I've done research all over the United States, explored many of our wonderful national parks, and only fallen more and more in love with the incredible world of plants.

In my free time, I love to bake, sketch, and swing dance. I especially love to sketch architecture. You can be sure that I'll include some of my drawings in my upcoming Reach the World articles!

During this year, I hope to experience firsthand how people in Germany connect with their environment. I also want to understand what science looks like in another country. Lastly, I want to meet some German flowers!

Are you ready to join me on this journey? I'm sure we're uncover a lot of surprising things about plants that will make you look at the green things around you in a whole new light. Let's go!
