While at the University of Bristol, I've gotten to know a lot of people with similar interests. Within my Master's program, I often meet my classmates for a drink or to study at the library. I have also joined our university's clay pigeon shooting club, water polo team and Expedition Society. Joining these groups has allowed me to do lots of activities and meet students from the United Kingdom and other countries such as China, India, Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands, Croatia and Russia to name a few!
This weekend, I went hiking in the Brecon Beacons, a mountain range in Wales, with the Expedition Society. It was very beautiful there! I'll also be going to the Lake District, a mountainous region in England, next weekend. A Society tradition is to race to jump into and out of lakes you see on the hike, despite it being very cold and rainy. It's a fun and silly way to join the others in doing something they enjoy. I'm also getting the hang of biking on the "other" side of the road. (A couple near crashes have made me glad I've invested in a high-quality helmet!) Being a part of these groups and using the popular transit method of biking has allowed me to integrate quickly into the adventurous community in Bristol.
