G'day! That is how Australians say hello to each other.
My name is Isay and I am so excited to share my journey in Australia with you over the next eleven weeks. This is my very first time in Australia, so everything is still very new to me. I was born and raised in San Francisco, California, and now I go to school at New York University in Manhattan. I am studying environmental studies in college. This is because I'm very interested in farming and protecting endangered wildlife. In fact, my profile picture was from last January and I was in the United Arab Emirates, a country in the Middle East, at a falcon hospital. When that photo was taken, it was my 20th birthday so I got to feed a falcon by hand which was my birthday wish. This experience inspired me to learn as much as possible about this species, which is unique to the Australian environment.
I'm here in Australia because I want to learn about the fish and mammals here. So far, I've met koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, platypi and little crabs. At the end of my time here, I hope to have learned about all of these species and how we can better protect them. When I'm not in class or 'in the field'--which means being outdoors doing research--I am spending time with my American and Australian friends.
