In Australia and around the world, Citi is a global finance company that works with businesses and individual people to help them manage their financial resources. Today, I got to visit their corporate offices in the middle of Sydney. It is located right across from the Sydney Town Hall.
I am participating in the Local Hosts Program, a corporate mentoring program offered to travelers like me by Reach the World and Citi as part of the e for education program! My Citi Local Host is named Cara! Luckily for me, Cara's office was only a 10-minute walk from where I live. Cara gave me a tour of the trading floor, which is a place where Citi employees assist their customers. She explained to me that the employees do tasks such as make calls, look for patterns in the economy and talk with Citi offices in other countries. I even met employees who are not from Australia! One person was visiting from the Citi office in Tokyo, Japan. Another person was visiting from California, which is the same state that I am from!
Citi is a truly global company! From Cara, I learned a lot about what Citi does to serve customers from different countries. On the wall of the trading floor, there are lots of clocks that tell you what time it is in almost every part of the world.
