My Autobiography: Who am I?

Journal Entry:

Hello! My name is Jade. I am 22 years old. My ethnic background is unique—I am Mexican, Chinese, and Native American. I am Miluk Coos and my tribe's traditional homeland is in Coos Bay, Oregon.

I am a first-generation college student, meaning my parents did not attend college. After this semester, I will earn a degree in Society & Environment and a minor in Global Poverty & Practice! My major is inter-disciplinary; it involves political science, urban planning, sociology, philosophy, ethics, feminism, social justice, agriculture, and poverty.

I was born and raised in San Francisco, California. My favorite place in San Francisco is Sutro Baths. Sutro Baths used to be the world's biggest indoor swimming pool! It was a glass-roofed building housing seven saltwater swimming pools. It is right next to the ocean! Because the pools used ocean salt water, chlorine was not necessary; the salt acts as a natural disinfectant. Don't be scared of the cold San Francisco ocean water! Temperatures of the pools ranged from cold to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The baths operated from 1890 to 1966 and were funded by a wealthy, eccentric man and once mayor of San Francisco: Adolf Sutro. He owned half of San Francisco!

Sutro Baths had a museum filled with Egyptian mummies, stuffed polar bears and apes, and totem poles that Adolf Sutro collected.
