안녕하세요 (Annyeonghaseyo)! My name is Jade and I am 22 years old. I was born and raised in San Francisco, California, home of Alcatraz, Lombard Street and the Golden Gate Bridge. I live near the beach and love to walk my corgi Eevee along the sand. Sometimes we hike in the mountains above the Golden Gate Bridge, where we view a beautiful sunset on Mount Tam. Like San Francisco, Seoul has a mixture of an urban and natural landscape with mountains I can climb. Sadly, Eevee will have to stay behind while I study for one semester in Seoul, South Korea.
I study at the University of California, Berkeley, where I major in society & environment and minor in global poverty & practice. For my final semester, I decided to study abroad after seeing pictures of my friends' travels and studies at international universities. I recieved a Gilman Scholarship to help me cover the costs of living overseas. As an environmentalist, I hope to gain insight on Korean environmental ethics to understand what motivates people to care for the environment and what the Korean government is doing to combat climate change. I am currently living in the SINCHON district in Seoul, South Korea. I am excited to share my journey with you all during my time abroad in Korea!
