Hi, I’m Jalene! After graduating with a degree in psychology, I jumped right into the Peace Corps to combine my passion for helping others with my love for adventure! I’m originally from New Jersey, but I’ve moved around a lot, so adjusting to life in a new country wasn’t a challenge—it was exciting!
I started my Peace Corps journey in Ecuador’s Amazon region, where I got to experience life surrounded by lush rainforests and vibrant wildlife. Now, I’m living in Ibarra, a beautiful city high in the Andes mountains, where I teach English at a high school. Teaching has been such a rewarding experience—it’s amazing to see my students grow and gain confidence in their language skills!
Living here has taught me so much about resilience, community, and the beauty of cultural exchange. From sharing meals with local families to exploring Ecuador’s incredible landscapes, every day is an opportunity to learn something new. I’m so grateful for the chance to make a difference in my students’ lives while embracing all the adventures that come with living abroad.
I can’t wait to continue this journey and see where it takes me next!
