Gofio - The Breakfast of Champions

As I mentioned before, gofio fits well with the Spanish way of having a small breakfast. It also makes sense that it is part of the specific Canarian culture because of its portability. You can take gofio with you to different places without too much hassle. It easily packs up in some plastic wrap, and because it’s full of nutrients and fiber, it will keep you full during a long hike in the mountains or a day sitting out in the sun. Plus, because it is made just of ground up grains, it is extremely cheap and easy to produce—an ideal staple for a poor trading spot like the Canary Islands.
