Traveler Bio

Bienvenidos todos (Welcome everyone)! My name is Jamil Davis and I am from a small city in Brockton, MA. When I was younger, I never saw myself as a traveler or a teacher, let alone a traveling teacher. As a child, I loved playing basketball and American football, and dreamed sports would be my future! But my education taught me the importance of helping others and growing intellectually. At Holy Cross University, I studied English, which created a passion for reading and writing, two things I did not like growing up. My consistent practice pushed me to write a senior thesis which was 180 pages and talked about the importance of investing money into communities and most importantly, schools. Also, I studied Education and Africana Studies. I have taught in many classrooms, from New Citizens Centers, Public elementary and high schools, to private schools. Currently, I am living out that expression every day here in Honduras as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant. I am teaching at the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional Francisco Morazán, where I work with other adults who are becoming English teachers. The best part of teaching future teachers is that every day they teach me Spanish. I love being in the classroom because it is a safe space for sharing ideas and learning new information. I am elated to connect with you all and show you my adventures in this beautiful country named Honduras.
