Traveler Bio

Hola! Hello! My name is Jane, and I'm (almost) 23 years old. I'm originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. At home, I lived on a 15-acre alfalfa farm with chickens. I also played soccer, rode horses, and explored the epic biodiversity in New Mexico. I went to college at the University of New Mexico, where I studied Political Science and Spanish. I even got the chance to study abroad in Costa Rica, where I started learning the Spanish language and got to visit the prettiest beaches. After my study abroad experience, I wanted to continue traveling, learning and connecting with the international community. I applied for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. I was lucky enough to receive acceptance for the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) award in Spain. With this grant, I plan to assist in teaching English at the University of La Laguna. This university is located on a tiny Spanish island off the coast of Africa! There are a couple of islands that make up the entirety of the Canary Islands, but I live on an island called Tenerife. Even though I'm technically in Spain, I'm actually closer to Morocco, a country in Africa. Did you know that Tenerife is home to the third-highest volcano in the world? It's great fun living here so far, and I am excited to share my journey with you all!
