Traveler Bio

Hello future explorers! My name is Jasmine or you can call me Miss J. I was born and raised in southern, California. I went to school in San Bernardino from elementary school to high school. Before college, I traveled through Europe and got my first taste of international travel. Ever since my trip to Europe, I have always looked for opportunities to venture out and see the world. When I returned from Europe, I moved to sunny San Diego, California. While in San Diego, I attended San Diego State University, for college and I met some of by best friends. After graduating college, I moved to Oakland, California, and became a 5th-grade teacher.

Now, I am living in Ghana. Last year, I wanted to travel and learn more about where my family came from, so I started looking for different opportunities in places like Colombia and Ghana. After applying for different jobs and fellowships, I received the U.S. Fulbright Scholarship Grant to teach in Ghana. Ghana is in West Africa! My ancestors (ancestors are people in your family who lived a long time before you) are from different parts of Africa, so I wanted to learn more about what life is like in West Africa. I like reading, making art, and exploring the outdoors.
