Looking out the window at this new city, I thought I would never get used to this different mode of transportation. However, after taking the ônibus a few weeks in a row, I eventually became comfortable traveling alone and I was confident getting to school.
Traveling by ônibus is cheaper than getting around any other way. The bus connects people in the city because it is affordable for people in Salvador who don't have a lot of money. The buses are always crowded because it is how everyone gets to work, school or their homes.
