My name is Jennell Strong. I am 20 years old and from the Bronx, New York. I am in my third year at Columbia University, majoring in African American Studies. I am currently studying abroad in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. I wanted to study abroad because I wanted a big change in my life; I wanted to challenge myself to feel and experience new things. I chose to live in Brazil because I am interested in learning about the Black Brazilian experience and comparing it to that of Black Americans. I also want to improve my Portuguese.
