Hallo! Hello!
My name is Jennifer Lawrence, I’m 21 years old and am originally from Seaford, Virginia. Although I grew up in Virginia, I went to college at the University of Delaware where I studied biology and neuroscience (the study of the brain). During my undergraduate college years, I was very involved in neuroscience research and completed my honors senior thesis on the effects of the Zika virus on brain development.
When I graduated, I was excited to continue with neuroscience research but was interested in seeing how research worked on a global level, specifically in regards to things like drug development, universal health care and international research partnerships. I was fortunate to be awarded a Fulbright scholarship to explore these questions. So, for the next year, I'll be living in a city called Nijmegen (pronounced “nigh-meg-hen”) in the Netherlands. The Netherlands is a small country right next to Germany in Europe. In fact, the whole country of the Netherlands is only big enough to fit two states of Delaware!
I currently work in a neuroscience research lab in Nijmegen studying Alzheimer’s disease and am excited for this opportunity to share my experiences abroad with you! Are you ready to go?
