As to how I felt when I saw the crystal blue water, I was in disbelief that water could be so clear and blue. I have always seen pictures on social media of people vacationing in places like Greece with clear blue water, but never thought it would be possible to spot in Tuscany. People can swim in this river, which I had the chance to do, and it felt refreshing and therapeutic to be swimming in fresh water.
The vineyards in Tuscany are found in the region of Chianti. Chianti is a rolling hill region found in the northeastern countryside of Tuscany. There are plenty of rivers that can be found within Tuscany, and the specific one I went to was found in a town called Colle di Val d'Elsa, near the city of Siena.
Vineyards are planted in an environment in which they can thrive and survive. Chianti's climate is warm during the summer and has mild winters, allowing the grapes to flourish. As mentioned above, the vines are planted on rolling hills, which makes it possible for these vineyards to survive during the rainy season. It enables the rain to roll down the hill, which prevents flooding.
The main ways vineyards can be harmed are by droughts and extreme heat. Droughts prevent the grapes from from receiving the necessary water needed for them to grow. Similarly, extreme heat can dry out the vines, which is crucial to growing the grapes. Other common problems can be the birds that may pick at the growing grapes, which can interfere with the growth process.
