Many steps are being taken to control the cholera outbreak. First, there is a vaccine people can take to prevent cholera. Many Malawians have already been vaccinated, but there is an international shortage of it, so many people have been unable to receive this treatment. Second, schools have set up hand-washing stations and provided hand sanitizer to all of the classrooms. They have also stopped selling food at schools in order to prevent the spread from eating contaminated items. Finally, the government has focused on making public service announcements to educate people on proper hygiene, especially when it comes to food preparation and eating. T.V. stations, radio stations and even Facebook have been useful ways for medical experts to communicate advice to the Malawian people.
